Bridal Jewelry – The Four C’s of Diamonds
What are the Four C’s of Diamonds? I was very fortunate to know someone who knew someone who knew something about wedding rings and diamonds. Our Wedding ring purchase came from a friend through the church we attend.
He pretty much schooled us on the Four C’s of diamonds; Clarity, Cut, Color and Carat (unit of weight for gemstones). If your wedding ring choice can pass the four C’s Test, you’re sure to have success
If the clarity of your diamond has imperfections when viewed through a magnifying glass, you’ll want to take a look at a different ring. The imperfections are also called inclusions or blemishes.
Wikipedia defines inclusions as crystals of a foreign material or another diamond crystal, or structural imperfections such as tiny cracks that can appear whitish or cloudy.
The bigger the cloud, the harder it will be for the diamond to transmit light. In any event, a good diamond expert will be able to point them out.
It’s very hard to find a flawless diamond and if you do you can be sure it will cost a you something. If the Cut of a diamonds angles are incorrect, the light that enters is not dispersed properly which takes away from the diamonds true beauty. If the color of the diamonds turn out to be colorless, it is considered to be perfect.
There’s an organization that rates the color of diamonds from D, or colorless to Z, Light yellow called GIA or The Gemological Institute of America.
The Carats of wedding rings are determined by their weight; the heavier the weight of the diamond, the more expensive.
I would have never known any of this without the friend of a friend’s knowledge. The more information you get on the four C’s of diamonds the better chance you have to make a good choice.
Everything we did was blessed by God when we were putting our wedding plans together. Just like the Photographer, the Videographer, the Wedding Ring purchase came from a friend through the church we attend.
We were very fortunate to know someone who had a friend who was a diamond expert. It’s easy to go into a diamond ring store, be mesmerized by the sparkle of a diamond and not really know what you bought. It’s another thing to go in and buy a ring that fits four c’s of diamonds.
Happy Wedding!
